Trip To Indy

Roger & I went to Indy for my birthday weekend and got to assist in the babysitting process for B&C while mom was away for a quick 24 hour "Girls Weekend" trip. We had a great time and Gpa Hunt took Brennan to soccer practice and Gma Hunt couldn't leave without buying the soccer attire. He looked sooooooooo cute. I will say I was not responsible for the hat. Then Gpa, PJ and Brennan enjoyed 5guys burgers for lunch and Campbell and I stayed home for a healthy lunch of carrots. Campbell had a slight fever and runny nose so dad didn't feel comfortable taking her out. She is so cute when she is sucking on her paci and the crawling. Makes my heart melt. Then we did a few things around the house to help mom and Gpa showed he could still multi task by making dinner and watching both kids. He enjoyed every minute. Like the dorky grandparents we are, all the way home we talked about all of the cute things the kids had done over the weekend and how much we already missed them and we weren't even halfway home...good thing they were in St. Louis the next weekend and got to spend Friday night with us. Can't wait until we see them again!

March Has Arrived

March has finally arrived and it is Birthday Month!
Another year older. How can that be. It is still so cold and I only have visions of tulips and spring. Flying into Roanoke, Virginia today and it is 32 degrees. Looking forward to heading to Indy this weekend to spend time with B & C. Can't wait. Hopefully the weather forecast will be right and we will have a warming trend so we can get outside and have some FUN!

26 years ago I became a mom!

26 years ago I became a mom. That day was probably the hardest and the best day of my life. I think giving birth is an experience one never forgets. I can remember every second like it was yesterday. Every year on this day I remember that day. I never want to forget it. I was very fortunate to have what people would call a "good baby". He did everything when he was supposed to or at least when everyone thought he should. He slept through the night at 2 months the night before I went back to work, he gave up his bottle and pacifier at 15 months and was potty trained and slept in his big bed at 2y/o. Of course we have Mae Mae to thank for the schedule. He had great hair and beautiful eyes and never stopped smiling. I am the luckiest mom in the world. In spite of all the things I did that wouldn't be considered today as "best" for the baby: I held and rocked him constantly, at 6 weeks he fell off of the bed, I stopped breast feeding at 2 months, he ate every food known to man and I am not sure I introduced them correctly, he was terrible at time out, he slept on his stomach and sometimes in bed with me. Inspite of all that we made it. So my advice about being a "good" mom with a "good" baby would be to try to do what's best for you and your family. With good intentions and a lot of love it works out! Sometimes I don't feel like I was always a good mom, but Andrew is quick to remind me I was a GREAT mom! Isn't that the best reward. Dreaming About Summer..........

I decided I am officially getting old because I actually don't enjoy cold weather anymore. As soon as the holidays are over I am ready for spring. So I am posting pictures of the Cayman Islands from our trip last May. Enjoy and dream!

2009

When I started developing the blog I was a little perplexed on how I would get up to date. The best way I can think of is to do a review of 2009……I apologize in advance because I am not always fond of these kinds of letters, but you do what works best and I am sure it will rival a few christmas letters I have received. The year started off very busy. I was renovating our bathroom and planning Roger’s 60th birthday party, not to mention working from home. Amazingly the bathroom renovation was completed just in time, thanks to a great crew and on March 7th we had Roger’s surprise 60th birthday bash, “The Best Is Yet to Come”. I am so glad I did it, despite his protests for any celebration he was surprised and it was a great success. We had planned a trip in December to Mexico, but with the murders and the flu we postponed the trip and on a 20 minute conference call planned a trip to the Cayman Islands in May with our friends. The water and weather was absolutely beautiful. Over Memorial Day we spent a week in Naples, Florida at a friend’s house. They are very generous and for the last few years Roger and I celebrate an early anniversary there. On June 28th we were blessed with Campbell Grace (fondly known as C) our second grandchild and she is beautiful. Her grandpa is all about his girls. In July, Patrick came home from Mongolia and moved in with us. It was great to have him home after two long years in the Peace Corp. Patrick is easy to have around and he loves to cook so what isn’t to like. Labor Day weekend, Courtney married Brennan Wells in a beautiful ceremony at Oliva on the Hill. She was a stunning bride and in true Hunt fashion the reception was a party! The day after the wedding we had a brunch, celebrated Brennan McCool’s 2nd birthday and had the Hunt Family BBQ. What a special day. PaPa and GaGa came in from Evansville to help with the kiddos and we loved having them visit. In October Patrick left us to go to South Korea to teach English. I miss him every day, even the stuff he always left on my kitchen table. The week before Thanksgiving we went to Indy to babysit and on a whim brought Brennan home with us for two days. It was so great. A few initial tears, a bag of cheerios, an Etch a Sketch and we were good to go. He is a very smart and busy boy. It melts my heart when I hear him YELL Grandpa not to mention when he says Grandma pease. He is best buddies with his grandpa. Meanwhile Andrew took the LSAT, scored quite well and applied to law school. Andrew is the best. We celebrated Thanksgiving with our new extended family the Wells. Girl’s weekend in DC proved to be great fun as always. Christmas was a blur, but the highlight was Roger dressing up as “the big guy in the red suit”. He makes a great Santa Claus. Note to self: the kids enjoyed the boxes as much as the gifts. In June Roger started a new way of eating and headed into the New Year 30 pounds lighter. It looks like 2010 will be another exciting year with a busy work schedule, visits to see the grandkids, celebrating our anniversary in Naples, girls weekends and a trip to Seaside!
